The above is the report of "Capacity Building for Spread Prevention and Management of Cassava Pink Mealybug in the Greater Mekong Subregion" (Regional Technical Cooperation Project, TCP/RAS/3311) - inception workshop (Bangkok, Thailand, from 31 May - 2 June 2011). In response to calls for support from its member countries, FAO has formulated the regional TCP project to assist the GMS countries in developing pest-spread prevention strategies and ecological bioconrol options to manage the Cassava Mealybug (CM). The partner countries in the project include Cambodia, China, Lao, Myanmar, Thailand, and Viet Nam. The main thrusts of the assistance are aimed at introducing A. lopezi from Thailand to partner countries where the paraitoid is absent and to strengthen farmer training programmes to promote biocontrol and IPM of CM among the smallholder farmers.
