Short description
The weblink shows specific information regarding import responses from Parties to the Rotterdam Convention. Article 10 of the Rotterdam Convention sets out the obligations of Parties with respect to the future import of chemicals listed in Annex III of the Convention and subject to the PIC procedure. Parties have an ongoing obligation to submit to the Secretariat, as soon as possible and in any event no later than nine months after the date of dispatch of a decision guidance document their import decision (whether a final or interim response) concerning the future import of the chemical. Where a Party changes an import decision submitted previously to the Secretariat the Designated National Authorities (DNAs) should submit a revised import response as soon as possible. All import responses submitted by Parties are published each June and December in the PIC Circular. The Prior Informed Consent (PIC) procedure is a mechanism for formally obtaining and disseminating the decisions of importing Parties as to whether they wish to receive future shipments of those chemicals listed in Annex III of the Convention and for ensuring compliance with these decisions by exporting Parties.
