Regional Workshops on draft ISPMs

This regional workshop is part of the APPPC’S biennium work programme for 2020-2021. The original proposal was to conduct this workshop in 2020, The objective was to promote the development and acceptance of international and regional commodity specific standards, and to discuss the implementation of the APPPC Regional Standard for Phytosanitary Measures (RSPM) 11 for mango. APPPC RSPM 11 for mango was adopted in 2019.

Due to the Covid-19 situation, it was agreed that the workshop would be postponed to the second quarter this year. Instead of the original proposal, we will now take into consideration ISPM 46 on commodity specific standard which was recently adopted at the CPM-16 2022 as well as an ISPM for mango (first annex to ISPM 46) to be developed based on RSPM 11.

This is the second time this regional workshop will be held virtually. The previous one was held from 7-10 September 2020. The regional workshop will discuss three basic areas including nine of the draft International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPMs) out for consultation, the regional action programme, and the updating of IPPC issues. In particular, there will be updates on governance and strategic issues which include Governance and Strategy by the Commission on Phytosanitary Measures (CPM) and CPM Bureau, Update from the Standards Committee (SC) and Update from the Implementation and Capacity Development Committee (IC).
